OEM part description
This genuine Sub-Zero water isolation valve is mounted at the top of select BI Series refrigerators and controls incoming water before it reaches the appliance's individual icemaker and dispenser valves. When the appliance calls for water, the isolation valve lets supply continue through the refrigerator water system.
Do not confuse it with the separate single- or dual-water valves that directly control water delivery to the icemaker or dispenser.
Part details
The isolation valve provides the initial electrically controlled water path into the appliance. A valve that fails closed can prevent downstream water valves from receiving water even though those valves are working correctly. A valve that fails to seal or develops physical damage can also become a source of water leakage.

If both the icemaker and water dispenser have stopped receiving water, the top-mounted isolation valve is one component worth checking before replacing multiple downstream valves. First confirm that the household water supply to the refrigerator is open and supplying water.
